  • Dr. Tommy Yuan – Honorary Headteacher

    Tommy received his MSc, PhD from the UK and has many years oversea teaching experience afterwards. He currently teaches at the Computer Science department of the University of York whilst leading the Chinese Universities collaborations. As well as Chinese collaborations, he deeply concerns Chinese language and cultural education for oversea Chinese children and the locals. He hopes to share his experience of teaching his own children with parents in York and surrounding areas, and thus enabling children to master and take the advantage of the increasing popular language so as to stand strong in the future challenge.

  • Yan Xu – PA to Headteacher

    Yan is a senior teacher in a Chinese secondary school with 16 years teaching experience. She was awarded provincial advanced individual, municipal key teacher, one of the ten district renowned teachers. She has rich classroom experience and is very good at helping students develop good study habits and achieving outstanding results. Yan deeply feels the demand of the overseas Chinese children to learn Mandarin, and is willing to voluntarily assist the teaching activities within York Chinese Community School.


  • Wang Xiangfeng - technical advisor

    Xiangfeng received a PhD and worked as a lecturer in a renowned university in China. He used to work at the University of York as an academic scholar and deeply concerned with the Mandarin education for overseas Chinese children. He volunteers to provide technical advice and support to York Chinese Community School with the hope to contribute his part to the heritage of the Chinese cultural abroad.

  • JiaQiu Lu - Web designer

    Jiaqiu received a Master degree in Computing from the University of York. He received a first degree in Internet technology from Malaysia Asia Pacific University of Technology and after that had a brief working experience in Huawei. Jiaqiu is interested in Internet science and related technologies, loves Chinese traditional culture and art, and is keen on Chinese education and willing to contribute to York Chinese Community School.

  • Amanda Wang – Headteacher - AQA Mandarin examiner

    Amanda is the founder of the school and mainly responsible for school teaching activities. She received her first degree in Journalism in China and an MA degree from the UK. She is the holder of the first class national Mandarin certificate and worked many years in Chinese media. She is a loving, patient teacher with a strong sense of responsibility and she truly loves Chinese language teaching. In classroom, she practices different teaching methods e.g. entertaining and interactive lectures and follow through induction, these effectively stimulate students' interest and enthusiasm in learning Chinese. Via the York Chinese Community School, she hopes to provide a better Mandarin learning environment for more people in York and surrounding areas.

  • Ting Zhu - Teacher

    Ting was granted Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from the University of York, Bachelor of Arts in Childhood in the Early Years from Leeds Beckett University. Before coming to UK, she had been a Chinese teacher and head teacher in a Chinese experimental primary school for 3 years. While teaching, she proposes to help children learning through interesting and meaningful processes. During the 3-year’s teaching, she was rewarded as an outstanding head teacher and outstanding educator. After years of study and work, she has acquired plenty of theories and gained lots of experience and skills for Chinese teaching. With the enthusiasm of Chinese teaching, Ting is pleased to be a member of York Chinese Community School and would like to make some contribution to the transmission of Chinese traditional culture.

  • Junyi Zhu - Teacher

    Junyi is currently studying a Master degree in Education at the University of York where she received a bachelor degree in History. She used to work as a Maths and English teaching assistant at Hempland Primary School in York. In 2016 she received the certificate for teaching English as foreign language from Trinity College London. Afterwards, she taught adult English and provided after-school tutoring at the University of York. Since then she devoted to language education。 Junyi started to work as a class teaching assistant at York Chinese Community School from September 2016, she is willing to contribute to the development of the school and oversea Chinese education.

  • Wanling Fu - Teaching Assistant

    Wanling is currently studying BA Education at the University of York. She used to work at Headlands primary school as a Year 5-6 student tutor, and is currently working as the Minister of CSSA Volunteering and received York Award. Wanling gets on well with children and likes mathematics and playing the violin. She joined York Chinese Community School in May 2016 as a class assistant.
